Cookie policy
Last updated October 22, 2026.
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser to remember something about your visit. Some tools keep the same kind of information in the browser's own storage, and we treat that the same way. Below is everything cxconfidenceindex.com stores, by name.
Your choice
On your first visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks what you allow. Necessary storage is always on, because the site needs it. Analytics stays off until you accept, and rejecting takes one click, the same as accepting. One choice covers every edition and every page. We keep it in your browser for six months, then ask again. You can change it at any time from Cookie settings in the menu.
To show that we asked, we keep a record of each choice for three years: what you chose, when, and a random ID. The record does not include your IP address.
If we add a new kind of tool, or a tool starts being used for something new, we ask everyone again.
Necessary
These remember your cookie choice and how you set up the menu. They are on for everyone.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| cxi_consent | Remembers your cookie choice, with a random ID and the date. Set by this site. | 6 months |
| cxi_consent_log_queue:* | Keeps up to ten cookie choices in browser storage while we retry sending their records. Each choice has its own entry, containing only the choice, random IDs, dates, and delivery status. | Until delivery succeeds, a permanent error occurs, or an older entry is replaced when the queue is full |
| sbRail | Remembers whether you keep the menu open or folded on a computer. Kept in the browser's storage, not a cookie. Set by this site. | Until you clear your browser's data |
Analytics (off until you accept)
With your permission, we measure how the site is used: which pages and sections people open, how far they scroll, how long they stay, and which links they click, including links to sponsors. The privacy policy explains what we do with this data. We do not use these tools to follow you across other websites.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells one browser from another. Set by Google Analytics. | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Keeps track of the current visit. Set by Google Analytics. | 2 years |
| Google Tag Manager | Loads Google Analytics. Sets no cookie of its own. | None |
Google's own terms also apply to these tools: policies.google.com/privacy. Until you accept, none of them loads and no data reaches Google.
No advertising cookies
Sponsor profiles are part of the page: text, photos, and links. They set no cookies, and no advertising network is involved.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you see, block, and delete cookies in its settings. If you block the necessary cookie, the bar will ask again on every visit.
Changes
When the way this site uses cookies changes, this page changes the same day, along with the date at the top. For questions, write to [email protected]. The privacy policy covers everything else about your data.
